Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park is situated in the western district of Mbarara. It is a comparatively small park measuring about 100 square miles making it the smallest of Uganda’s national parks. It has a mosaic habitat composed primarily of dry hillside, rocky outcrops, bushes, thickets open and wooded Savannah’s, forests, lakes and swamps which are home to a diversity of both flora and fauna.
At the center of the park lies the Lake Mburo which, together with 14 other lakes, forms part of an extensive wetland. Acacia species, olea and boscia species dominate the woody vegetation of the park.
Lake Mburo National Park is a home to over 68 different species of mammals which include impala, eland, rock hyrax, zebra, water buck, buffalo, warthog, leopard, civet, hyena, hippo and Nile crocodile. A game drive through the park takes visitors on numerous tracks like impala track, zebra track, Kazuma track, Kifambira loop, Ruroko track and the lake side track. On any of the above tracks, visitors are exposed to diverse species of animals and plants, as well as birds.
