Biking Expeditions

Motocross
For visitors who desire an adrenaline-charged adventure, we organize motocross challenges with unlimited ride days on your choice of motorcycle, transportation to and from the tracks, lunch and beverages, fuel, entry fees and pit support. We cater for all levels of riders, whether you are looking to practice and experience dirt tracks or if you are the more serious rider who wants to practice and race. Overnight camping facilities are available at the track site in Busiika for those who wish to stay the night, and nature walks and bird watching tours in the late evenings and early mornings can be organised within the neighbouring forests.

Mountain Biking
From the tops of the country's myriad plateaus to the base of the Great Rift Valley, from rugged escarpments to white sand beaches, explore the country’s shifting landscape either on 2 or 4 wheels. Whether quad biking along the banks of the Nile or mountain biking on quaint village trails, you are guaranteed the expedition of a lifetime.

Option 1: Bike tour in Mabira rainforest and on to the Source of the Nile
Drive through Kampala to Mabira Forest (approx. 2.5 hrs) and our first cycle route through the Primary Rainforest. Picnic and continued journey to the source of the Nile (approx. 0.5 hrs). We cycle along the source of the Nile and finally across the railway bridge over the Nile, which was built in 1930. We will cycle through Jinja to the market. A 20-minute drive in our safari truck brings us to Bujagali Waterfalls where we will stay in the Nile Porch Lodge. (26 mi; Asphalt/Tracks) (B, L). We will undertake an interesting village tour with the village chief. In a hut we will enjoy a traditional Ugandan meal together. In the afternoon we will cycle along the Nile passing through fields and beautiful villages (30 miles).

Option 2: Bike tour on the islands of Lake Victoria
Travel to Entebbe by car, and after a picnic, take bikes on the ferry to the Ssese Island on Lake Victoria (approx. 2 hrs). A short cycle ride along the beach will bring you to the island resort on these green islands. You can cycle along the hilly streets to Bugoma where we will take fishing boats back to the mainland.

Option 3: Bike safari in Lake Mburo National Park
The tour vehicle will drive you to the entrance of Lake Mburo National Park (approx. 2.5 hrs). The first game drive by bike takes you, amongst others, past zebra, impala and buffalo before reaching the idyllically located Mantana Luxury Tended Camp in the middle of the hilly acacia landscape (34 miles).

Option 4: Bike tour along the Great Rift Valley
Leave the national park on mountain bikes and after a short stop for supplies, the tour vehicle will take you to Mpanga Gorge (approx. 3-4 hrs) in the Great Rift Valley. From there, you will cycle on hilly tracks along the vast Savannah grasslands to Kibale Forest Camp where you can stay for two nights. (28 miles).

Option 5: Bike Safari in Kibale Forest National Park
Cycle and hike the whole day through Kibale Forest National Park and the hilly crater landscape at the foot of the Ruwenzori Mountains. There is the possibility to do a chimpanzee trek in the Kibale Forest National Park (25-44 miles).

Option 6: Bike ride in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Drive (approx. 2 hrs) to the equator close to the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here transfer to mountain bikes and after a 2-3 hour bike safari with a ranger through Park reach the idyllically located Tent Camp Lodge on a crater lake, where you can spend the afternoon relaxing. Continue the journey to the Ishasha Sector of the Park where you can undertake a further game drive and with luck find lions relaxing on the branches of the fig trees.

Option 7: Bike tour to Bwindi National Park
In the afternoon, continue to Bwindi National Park and cycle about 2 hours along the dense bushes and banana plantations until we reach the forest edge of the impenetrable mountain rainforest. From here cycle the often steep mountain passes through the beautiful national park and after a picnic, head back down towards Kabale. A safari truck will finally take you to the resorts edge on Lake Buyonyi, which lies 6000 ft above sea level. (19-25 mi; Tracks) (B, L)
